A person who spiked sweets with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two young males aged nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The accused was kept in jail before a further hearing on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he managed.
The man engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She said the man had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
The prosecutor added: "This year his family member had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said objects including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his family member notified the police about his worries.
She said Ruben continued to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the following morning.
"The police had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the incident.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement again.
She said Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
