The buzz about the recent awards show was significant, notably after presenter Geoff Keighley shared a puzzling image of a desert monolith. The question is finally answered. Larian Studios is creating a fresh Divinity game.
Announced as Divinity, the game was showcased with a audacious trailer packed with memorable imagery, from a burning man to an orgy and the very unleashing of hell.
Not the Expected Sequel
For those anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. The studio warned that a third Original Sin game to its beloved RPGs is not being worked on now.
However, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a evolution of the core franchise. This phrasing suggests that the team is likely designing a more action-oriented experience as opposed to another tactical title. For now, this is speculation, as only a announcement clip is available.
A Pillar of Modern RPGs
The Divinity series is universally respected and arguably it kicked off the recent resurgence of deep computer role-playing games. These games are defined by intricate stories, branching plots, and complex character building—elements that subsequently found massive success in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its universe is traditional swords and sorcery, what truly sets Divinity apart is the remarkable agency bestowed upon the player.

- You might solve a puzzle because you heeded something a non-human character said.
- Or, you could bypass a challenge by using the world itself in a clever way.
